Our vision is to unite law enforcement officers, the extended police family and ‘selected professionals’ from across the globe and provide a platform for members to join together in training, education, research and development within the area of conflict management and Personal Safety techniques.
Our aim is to deliver high-quality, certified training that enhances professional development and public safety —drawing on the extraordinary talents and experiences of those who have dedicated their lives to protecting others.
We are all like-minded serving or retired members of the law enforcement community who have a particular interest in the subjects surrounding reality based self-defence and street survival.
Our main goal is to establish contact with police/law enforcement & military organizations and individuals interested in exchanging and developing the ideas and methods about realistic unarmed/armed/firearms combat, arresting and defensive tactics for officers. We do not represent any federal, state, law enforcement agency or branch of the Armed Forces of any country.
Since its inception, the DTG has partnered with the Explosive Self Defence Systems (ESDS) organisation as its core self-defence operating system. This partnership was formed because ESDS best aligns with the values and ethos of the DTG —prioritising instinctive, practical, and ethically sound responses to conflict.
Our training is grounded in empirical research and operational experience. ESDS is based on human instinctive reactions to stress, fear, and physical contact.
Our goal is simple: deliver maximum skill acquisition in minimal time.
Benefits for DTG members
Benefits for IPA Sections
While the IPA Defensive Tactics Group has already achieved notable success, we are still in the early stages of what we believe will be a transformative journey. DTGs are now active in the UK, Sweden, America, Pakistan, and Belgium —each contributing to officer safety, professional development, and member engagement.
However, many dedicated members remain without a local DTG in their own Sections. These individuals continue to express strong interest and rely on us to keep their details on file, hopeful that their Section will soon establish a group. The following countries currently have active members but no formal
DTG presence:
Countries with Interested Members (Alphabetical): Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, France, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kenya, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Trinidad and Tobago
This growing interest highlights both the demand and the opportunity. To reach our full potential, we need the support of IPA leadership and Sections worldwide. By working together, we can build a truly global network—one that strengthens our organisation, empowers our members, and ultimately helps save lives.
After years of tactical training with military, police, and civilians, we’ve distilled the most effective survival principles into one practical guide.
